Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

"Move on" is, of course, the goal. All agree.

However, the framework, the wording of the injury itself, creates a bias.

The clients, their families, and others are impacted by this bias.

They are led toward believing/hoping this injury will recede quickly - become just a memory.

There is nothing past about it though.

It can flare with an intensity that temporarily cripples a person.

Expectations must be realistic.

Learning how this impacts each separate individual is imperative.

Each incident triggers disappointment.

Guilt, blame, sadness, denial will all make a visit to the individual and those connected to that individual.

Understanding this dynamic allows one's mind to keep things in perspective, while this emotional cycle is occurring.
