Child and Teen Counseling

An essential element in most therapeutic situations is the capacity to communicate.

With children of all ages, this is imperative.

The openness sought begins with understanding.

This word is used frequently, and genuinely.

The effort needed to accomplish this is often underestimated.

As a result, disappointment often dominates.

Children often speak through their behavior.

Most of the time these pieces of behavior are negative.

These pieces of behavior may also be exaggeratedly positive.

The goal therapeutically is for the child to use their words to communicate.

Ideally before an incident, certainly afterward.
